My encounter with Clifford was a big surprise for me and happened under strange circumstances. While passing through Roswell, New Mexico, on a business trip, I stopped for about an hour to explore what was on Main Street. Across from the UFO museum, there was a bookstore with the usual alien-themed souvenirs and green little men. There were also books. One of them was titled Only Eyes. On the last page of the summary, it said that an eyewitness talks about his encounters with extraterrestrials and that this was part of his job while serving in the U.S. Army.

That made me buy the book. As I was paying, the cashier told me that the next day the main character and co-author of the book – Clifford Stone himself – would be at the bookstore signing copies. I couldn’t stay, so the cashier offered to keep the book with my name, and the co-author would sign it. I could pick it up on my way back to Texas.

And that’s exactly what happened. When I went to get my book, there was a note left for me:
“Mr. Ivanov, this is my phone number. I’m Clifford Stone and I’d like to meet you.”

I was absolutely thrilled. This man had encountered various non-human beings during his service in the army.

I called, and a voice answered – it was Clifford.
He told me that he could come by the UFO museum in about 20 minutes and that he’d bring me more materials.

He arrived in an old Toyota pickup, smiling, and we started talking. He brought a few discs with digitized documents from investigations conducted by the FBI and CIA related to UFOs.

That’s how our friendship began and lasted for the next eight years – until the moment he passed away.
